Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

This year, I am teaching three needle felting workshops on May 2, 3 and 4 at the the biggest and best event of the year, the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival! See details on the Festival website and register on EventBrite.

Needle Felted Lamb Workshop

Wednesday, May 2, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Room 5 at Turf Valley Resort

Celebrate your love of fiber by learning to needle felt an adorable mini sheep or lamb! Students will learn the basics of needle felting, including how to form shapes and create a smooth, solid felted surface with wool, as well as how to add natural wool curls for the fluffy fleece and fine details for the face.

Needle Felted Sculpture Workshop

Thursday, May 3, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Room 5 at Turf Valley Resort

Unleash your creativity and the versatility of needle-felting to create an original wool sculpture. Students will build on their existing needle-felting skills to learn advanced and alternative methods for achieving desired shapes, firmness, and textures. This workshop is meant to be an open-ended opportunity for intermediate to advanced needle felters to expand their skills working on any original three dimensional work, from abstract to realistic. You could work on an animal, a doll, or any original design (although more ambitious projects may not be completed within the 6 hour timeframe). Come learn how wool, like your imagination, has no limits!

Needle Felted Cupcake Workshop

Friday, May 4, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Room 5 at Turf Valley Resort

Make a fun and colorful needle felted cupcake entirely out of wool. Your creation can be used for decoration or as a pin cushion. Students will learn the basics of needle felting, including how to form shapes and create a smooth solid felted surface with wool, as well as how to add precise details and textures. Intermediate students will learn ways to improve their technique.

Art Journaling Workshop Series

Art Journaling is a wonderful creative outlet, combining written with visual expression. In this six week series, we will make our own journals, hand sewing mixed media papers, binding and decorating canvas book covers. We will use a wonderful array of art materials, including paints, art markers, gel pens, colored pencils, as well as collage and decoupage. $135 including materials.  Ages 16 and up.Paper Mâché Workshop Series

If you haven't done paper mâché since elementary school, you'll be amazed at how fun and versatile this fiber arts medium can be. Over the course of four or eight weeks, we will take paper mâché and our creativity to new levels, making sturdy detailed sculptures out of paper and flour. We will finish our paper mâché sculptures with a combination of painting, collage, and decoupage. $165 for 6 weeks  including materials.  Ages 12 and up.

No paper mâché classes are scheduled at this time, but if you would like to put a group of 4 or more together, Jill is happy to find a mutually convenient time to schedule a series of art journaling sessions.
